Organizations that receive OBT funding can refer to this page to learn about reporting requirements and guidelines for promoting their grant or PRI.

Organizations are welcome to promote their OBT grants and program-related investments to leverage further community support. Our guidelines are as follows.

News Releases

OBT typically does not initiate news releases about individual awards. Grant and PRI recipients should write their own news releases.

If you wish your news release to include a quote or comment from an OBT representative, please contact Ann Pagel, our operations and communications associate.

In general, OBT does not need to review or approve your news release unless you request a quote or comment from someone at OBT.

When working with media organizations that wish to speak with an OBT representative about a grant or OBT itself, please direct those inquiries to Ann Pagel.

Boilerplate Language

If you would like to include text about OBT at the end of your news release or announcement, please use the following language:

The Otto Bremer Trust is a private charitable trust based in St. Paul, Minn. Created in 1944 by business and community leader Otto Bremer, it is committed to supporting an enhanced quality of life for residents of Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Since its founding, OBT has invested more than $1 billion in its region’s people, places, and opportunities. Visit ottobremer.org.

We require a narrative and financial report at the end of each one-year grant period.

In the narrative, we are particularly interested in hearing about the outcomes and impact of the work funded by the grant — both successes and challenges — and any lessons learned. In the financial report, we look to see how the money was spent. In some cases, we may ask for additional information.

At the end of the grant period (or when the grant activity is complete if that is sooner), your organization may submit its final narrative and financial reports.

Contact your program officer to discuss options if you anticipate challenges completing expenditures during the grant period.

To complete your report, log into the portal.

For assistance, please contact your program officer, or call our office (651-227-8036 or 888-291-1123) and ask to speak with them.
