Otto Bremer Trust co-trustee Charlotte Johnson retires after 33 years of service
ST. PAUL, August 9, 2024 — The Otto Bremer Trust (OBT) announced today that co-trustee Charlotte S. Johnson has retired effective August 9, 2024.
Johnson has served as a co-trustee for the last 33 years. During that time, she oversaw the Trust’s substantial growth from modest assets to one of the largest charitable trusts in the country. Over her tenure, she helped OBT distribute more than $1 billion to charitable organizations advancing critical priorities, including reducing poverty, remedying racial injustice, and fostering economic equity.
“It has been an incredible honor carrying out Otto Bremer’s legacy for the past 33 years,” said Charlotte Johnson. “I am proud of the work I have been a part of as a trustee, empowering thousands of organizations and people in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Montana to improve and enhance their communities and to support a better quality of life for people in our region. It has been a true gift to have been able to work alongside the other trustees and with our talented staff in doing this very important work.”
Said Daniel Reardon, co-trustee, “We will miss Charlotte deeply. She played a key role in administering OBT over many years, with a special focus on the work of the many beneficiaries OBT has been able to fund. We are grateful for her longstanding service and commitment.” Francis Miley, also co-trustee, noted, “Charlotte brought a keen eye, a good heart, and a collaborative spirit to our work together. Her role was essential to OBT’s ability to implement Mr. Bremer’s wishes.”
Ms. Johnson now looks forward to a well-deserved retirement.
